WE NEED TASTING JUDGES for a variety of cooking competitions at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Bar-B-Que Cook-Off on Friday January 25, 2019 and Saturday January 26, 2019.
Event Details
You don’t need any experience to be a judge, just a willingness to taste some of THE BEST BBQ in Texas! All judges must be 18 years of age or older and have no food allergies. In order to judge the Bloody Mary competition, judges must be 21 years of age or older and present a valid ID.
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Bar-B-Que Cook-Off (SABBQ) is a championship event sanctioned by the International Bar-B-Que Cookers Association (IBCA) and features some of the world's most competitive Bar-B-Que teams, LIVE music, family activities, a BBQ trade show, a kids cook-off, shopping and much more. SABBQ is one of several events kicking off the Rodeo Season. Proceeds from this event benefit the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Scholarship Fund.
The judging start times are listed below; plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the competition you sign up to judge. All judges must purchase a gate ticket to enter the event grounds. Tickets to the event can be purchased now on the event website (see below) for $15 each day or $25 for a weekend combo. Military personnel with ID and children 12 and under are free. The tasting competition takes place at the Bolner Fiesta Judging Tent on the event grounds; maps of the event will be available at the gate upon entry. Only judges are allowed inside the judging tent, including the fenced waiting area. All judges will receive two drink tickets to utilize during their waiting period. Drinks include water, soda and beer. We ask that you choose no more than two competition categories to judge in order to allow as many interested event goers as possible to participate. We also have a reserve judging ticket available each day to serve as a wait list for categories that may end up needing additional judges; sign up and we will call or text on the day of the event if you are needed.
